I think everyone considering to get married should read this book! July 27, 2010 Kimberley Williams I am 25 years old and am far from wanting to get married but decided to read this book because I loved Elizabeth first book Eat, Pray, Love! But this is just as good as her first book. It really makes you think about marriage and understand it because I think there are a lot of women out there that don't really think about what "marriage" is just that they want to do because that is what people have done in the past. This gives a lot of insight to the whole history and concept of marriage more than just the tradition bride in a white big dress and being known as "the one." After reading this book I still am skeptical of marriage as now a days more and more people are not getting married and that seems like the new trend...but I love that I am more knowledgable about marriage and it's history just after reading this book. It's a good book for women who are single, engaged and married. I think all women should understand marriage and it's past.
Great Book!
Disappointing May 6, 2010 Marsha Baxter (Quebec Canada) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I absolutely LOVED the book Eat,Pray,Love, and I was very excited to buy this one. While the previous book had me reading until my eyes got tired, this book was work to read. It felt like school, when you are forced to read something on the required reading list. The author has such a wonderful gift of describing emotions and "scenes" that I didn't feel in this book at all. I read for pleasure, and after pushing myself to get halfway through, I decided to put it down and not bother with the rest. I hope that her next book will be a return to her wonderful strength. I eagerly await the next novel!
The worst book I have ever read March 4, 2010 Marc-andré Lague (New York) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I could not wait for this book to come out.I loved eat, pray ,Love.I was so disapointed with the writting of this book all it talks about is the history of mariage .I felt like a student that was imposed a book reading I wanted to finish the book thinking it would get better but it was bad from the first page to the last .
I really can't belive it is the same author as EPL .Honestly don't waist your money on this book.I read a lot and it is the first time I actually hate a book that much.

This book was boring, boring, boring what a disappointment! The author tries to figure out the meaning of marriage beginning at the 1900's. It is definately not a book to read at bedtime as you will just fall asleep. I found myself skimming through the pages as the author just rambles on. What a complete disappointment and waste of money!
History lesson..... February 6, 2010 M. Alward (Canada) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I fell in love with her book Eat Pray Love and thought that this one was more in the lines of it however it was a history lesson in marrage of sorts. Her struggle with having to marry her love just so he could live in the USA. For me it was more of a way our goverments force the people in doing what they want to control.
