Great Read... May 30, 2010 Pompei Feline (Winnipeg, MB Canada) Really great read....the characters were very interesting and I loved the detail in the story of their lives and the era that the story takes place.
Another Great Story by Jeanette Walls April 1, 2010 Sunflower M (Canada) I loved this author's previous book "The Glass Castle" The Glass Castle: A Memoir and had high hopes for this book. It did not disappoint me. Loved it and couldn't put it down. What a story and what a storyteller she is!

The Glass Castle was the first book by this author - which is autobiographical of an very different childhood with parents who were free thinkers. Beautifully written, lovely style.
Half Broke Horses is a story of the author's maternal grandmother, which she writes from stories she has hear. Well done. I received these books from a friend, passed them on to others, and have bought more copies for my friends. -
Half Broke Horses February 2, 2010 Carol C. Markowsky (Rossland, BC) I read Half Broke Horses in a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lily Casey Smith was a strong character and reminded me of my own mother's life as a one room school teacher. I have previously read Jeannette Walls Memoir (The Glass Castle) and wanted to read Half Broke Horses to give me some insight into Jeannette's mother's upbringing and the impact it had on Jeannette's rather unusual. I now plan to read The Glass Castle again. Half Broke Horses was an interesting read but The Glass Castle is one of those books that left a lasting impression on me and will go down as one of my favorites.
