Customer Reviews: Almost greatMarch 8, 2010 Chad Wiebe(Winnipeg, MB Canada) It's a netbook, so don't expect it to be the workhorse that a full-priced laptop or a desktop would be. That said, it clips along pretty well provided you're not running a lot of applications in the background. I was disappointed with the multi-touch touchpad functionality at first, but I found that updating the drivers (available at the ASUS website) added virtually all of the features I wanted, primarily the two finger scrolling and middle-click. The keyboard feels nice, even for someone used to a full-sized keyboard. Seeing as the touchpad is flush with the surface, I find I occasionally slide my finger(s) off the side without realizing it and then wonder why my cursor stopped moving. Some of the construction feels a bit cheap in places, but is largely unnoticeable.
The built-in Wi-fi and Bluetooth, long battery life, along with the three USB ports make this a pretty slick little package for anyone who needs to do a little light computing on the go, and all at a reasonable price point.

The touch pad is very sensitive and if you keep your finger touching the click bar while you are using the touch pad it will zoom in and switch screens. Other than that I find it a great toy and I don't like using my desktop anymore!!!! If you buy one you will enjoy it very much.

I was skeptical about buying a netbook however I have only been impressed by with this purchase.
People will complain about the size of the keyboard but the learning curve is small so you quickly get right back into touch-typing after a few hours of fiddling with it. The touchpad is great and the ability to zoom and scroll directly from the pad is useful.
In terms of battery life it's advertised as 10 hours, that's obviously with power settings set to minimum. Running with max brightness and high processing I usually get 6+ hours worth of use, which is about how much time I need away from a power source.
For peripheral sockets the 1005HA has enough. Some people may want a HDMI slot but the reality is that as a netbook it wouldn't be able to handle the file anyway.
As far as aesthetics go this computer is very easy on the eye, it has a slim profile which also helps when toting it around. The casing does love to pick up smudges, but those can always be wiped off. The 1005HA is also solidly built, I always throw it in my duffel bag with the included case (a nice touch) and I haven't had problems yet.
Overall I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested in a netbook. There are obvious constraints on processing power and peripheral sockets based on its size. But I purchased the 1005HA for its portability and battery life not so that I could watch HD.

The unit arrive quickly and looked the part, matching all the details outlined in the specs.
However on opening on the 25th Dec and using for only 2 days the battery stopped working. The dekstop meter indicated 77% charge and charging, however when the ac adapter was removed the computer shutdown (ie no power in the battery).
Read up on this and it seems that this happened on a number of the Eee Models and that the adapters can also stop working quite quickly.
Have sent this to Asus (and yes i still had to pay the shipping, even though out of the box this unit was faulty - not happy about this at all) as a DOA, Dead on Arrival, so they should be replacing the whole unit. I am still chasing them to get some timing around this. It has now been with them for seven days so hopefully it will be resolved in this week.
Lets see how the next one goes. If there are issues with that, I will have to rethink using Asus in the future.
