Highly entertaining January 3, 2008 Neil Mayhew (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a very enjoyable and well-finished game. It's aimed squarely at people who like to solve puzzles, but it should also appeal to people who like gadgets and unusual machines.
The puzzles start out very easy, but get more challenging as you go on. The early puzzles are designed to teach you about the user interface, and about the function and purpose of the various crazy parts that you can build into your machines.
Occasionally the solutions depend on the exact placement of parts to get a somewhat 'fluky' result, but usually this is not the case. In this respect, the game seems better than its forerunner, The Incredible Machine. The graphics and built-in physics are really excellent, and the sensation of movement and sound is very pleasing. Using dynamite and C4 explosive is particularly enjoyable!
Despite being a few years old, this game runs well on my Intel iMac under Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.1). The downloadable demo is also a good test of how well the game will perform on any given system.
Crazy Machines is excellent value for money, and deserves to be much more widely known and enjoyed.
