'rapunzel' let down its guard. July 10, 2008 melba moore (canada) i have enjoyed the faerie tale theatre collection since childhood. the only episode i hadn't seen (until last night) was 'rapunzel.'
jeff bridges and shelley duvall are hilarious as the husband and his pregnant wife. the episode started off very strong, with the two of them. the montage of shelley eating the 'rapuns' was comic gold.
i was disapointed, however, with the last half. the ending was such a copout. and totally anti-climactic. somehow the prince finds rapunzel in the desert and they are reunited with her long-lost parents the end.
ugh.
but worth watching for the first half.
Faerie Tale Theatre: Rapunzel February 12, 2004 Clob Lane (Toronto, Canada) Probably my favourite episode from Faerie Tale Theatre is absolutely sweet! Shelley Duvall makes a magnificent and angelic Rapunzel, and Jeff Bridges is witty and charming as the Prince. Gena Rowlands is scary and stylish as the wicked witch. With a touching music score,a dedicated and romantic script and an intelligent narrator Roddy MacDowwell, you're bound to have a classic...and yes...you do!
